About
Hi, I’m Sherri, the owner, maker and curator of Contemporary Relics. This line of jewelry is dedicated to “Old Souls” everywhere who delight in wearing jewelry with a connection to the past.
Most of my jewelry is made using dies holding the impressions of hand carved master dies from over a hundred years ago. I stamp these designs in sterling silver and then create jewelry from them. These are extremely rare designs and haven’t been widely available since the late 1800's!
In addition to using my dies, I find that there is something powerful about using materials forged by time and the elements. Both Ancient Roman glass and freshwater pearls illustrate this beautifully and their organic, magical iridescence enchants me. Each piece is a treasure that I am powerless to resist!

What's my most meaningful piece?
This hippocampus was one of the first pieces I pressed by hand, coaxed into form (okay, more like, forced with the magic combination of intense fire and 20 tons of pressure) from an antique image die on my hydraulic press.
I wore it on my first journey to Naples, Pompeii and the National Archaeological Museum - where the soul of “Archaeological Revivalism” truly awakened in me. Surrounded by echoes of ancient Italy, I felt called to bring the past forward, to let myth and memory live again through my jewelry.
Originally created in the mid-1800s, this piece now finds new life, hopefully carrying with it the wonder that first inspired me.
